It's Periwinkle Season!

Posted on April 18, 2021 by Debbie B | 0 Comments

Time to gather my purple pretties. Last season I made only one periwinkle necklace - which instantly found a home. Didn't gather and preserve additional florets and regretted it as requests came in. This Spring I will be Aesop's Ant instead of the Grasshopper, committing to cutting and resining at least 20 a week. Color is fragile so the resin quickly fades the purple to white and brown.  While I like leaving some of the natural flower showing, it won't be an option. To remedy that, I'll coat them in copper from pistil to stem and then splash on Intaj purple and blue metal paints. The final pieces will look more like watercolor paintings, which I very much like!
